Mark Drumm,
Managing Partner
Mark Drumm brings over 35 years of experience in real estate development and investment to the firm. Mr. Drumm serves as Principal of The Shelter Companies with a focus on development of multifamily housing featuring micro-units and co-living units. Together with Mark Simon, he has thoroughly researched and followed the evolution of micro-units, co-living, and “housing as a service” in the U.S. and abroad. Previously, he was a founding partner of the Cannon Company’s apartment division, responsible for development of more than 2,300 units in the Southeast. He served as Chief Strategy Officer for a $900MM private equity real estate fund. Mr. Drumm has held key roles – including executive, strategy, risk, research, marketing, acquisition, investment, capital markets, and development – on over $4 billion in real estate developments and investments. He’s an alumni of University of Georgia Business School, the STAGEN ILP and holds a Series 65 License. Mr. Drumm is a member of ULI and TREC where he has held numerous board and leadership positions.
Mark Simon,
Managing Partner
Together with Mark Drumm, Mr. Simon is a Principal and co-head of The Shelter Companies, the micro-unit and co-living development firm. Mr. Simon has more than 15 years of real estate experience. Most recently he directed the acquisition, repositioning, development, and asset management of over 7,000 units in major U.S. markets, with total capitalization exceeding $1.5 billion. Prior to joining Shelter, he served as a Principal and head of asset management for a boutique Dallas-based multifamily firm. There, Mr. Simon repositioned a portfolio of 1,500 value-add units in major Texas markets while overseeing the ground-up development, leasing, stabilization, and asset management of an additional 1,000 units of Class A luxury apartments.
Zach Present,
Managing Partner
Zach Present joined The ShelterCo in 2025 as a partner and brings over 20 years of real estate experience to the team. Mr. Present’s experience spans all aspects of the acquisition and development investment lifecycle including: site selection, diligence, capitalization, financial analysis and construction. Prior to joining Shelter, Mr. Present served as Founder and Managing Partner at Prospice Investments, focused on multifamily investments in the Sunbelt. Mr. Present began his career at D.R. Horton working across the homebuilding, mortgage, title and insurance businesses covering 75 markets. Zach worked at J.P. Morgan in the Investment Bank covering the real estate industry (including REITs, Gaming, Lodging, Homebuilding and Business Services). Zach is a graduate of the Mays Business School at the Texas A&M University Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Finance. He received an MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. He is a native of Austin and splits time between Austin and New York.
Glenn Clements, Jr,
Managing Partner
Houston native Glenn H. Clements, Jr. recently served as President of Morris Strategic Investments (MSI), a private equity firm he co-founded in 2006, leading the company for 20 years of investment and development and acquisition of commercial real estate assets. A Boston College graduate with dual concentrations in Finance & Management of Information Systems, with a background in commercial lending, Glenn has directed major developments including the award-winning Heights Central Station, a 9-location assisted living Memory Care chain, the 65-acre Town Creek mixed-use project in New Braunfels, and residential communities in Spring Branch. Beyond development, Glenn serves as Trustee and CFO of the Joella and Stewart Morris Foundation and is a member of WPO Next Gen.
